The books are “Dog Stories” and “Puppy Stories”, “Inspirational and Heroic True Stories” by well-known authors Brad and Sherry Steiger.

The stories are fantastic! They will really reinforce your love and admiration for our furry friends and the amazing things they do for us humans. There are numerous stories of dogs literally saving peoples’ lives.

The Steigers have also written other animal books, such as “Animal Miracles”. You can find a lot of their books on Amazon and other book sites.

The elusive and mysterious wolverine

I just wanted to pass along an amazing story about a close friend of mine from Nashville who is in the Wildlife and Forestry field out West.

Michael Inman, one of my former roommates at the Univ. of Tennessee, directs the Greater Yellowstone Wolverine Program for the Wildlife Conservation Society (www.wcs.org/), the international organization known for its outstanding work preserving wildlife all over the world.

This story is amazing! So much so that it was in the New York Times this summer and is still on the Times website. Michael’s program caught a wolverine and tracked it to Colorado! It is the first time a wolverine has been in Colorado since 1919- 90 years!

Justice's health has been transformed- and his owner attributes it to Pet-Tao

I tranquilized the cat, x-rayed her and found the shoulder problem. Here I am checking her pulse after giving the shot. The owner is making sure things went well!!!

After years in private practice, today was a first for me. I was called out to examine a big African cat!! It was a Serval cat, a 40-pound cat!

A man who lives close to my hospital made the request. Wow!! I sure was in for a suprise. As we walked to the back of his property, I didn’t feel like this was gonna be the typical home veterinary house call. He pointed and said “there she is, over there.” I looked and saw a 40 pound cat- an African Serval that this guy had in a 40 by 80 foot pen in his backyard.

She sure was a beautiful animal. His complaint was that she was limping. I told him that we would have to anesthesize her to do an exam and take some x-rays if needed. He agreed and after overcoming some fear somehow got a shot into this huge cat without getting clawed, bitten or even decapitated. We x-rayed and diagnosed a shoulder avulsion based on the exam. Veterinary medicine is never boring!
