Jojo is now feeling better after treatment and some TLC

A client of mine recently purchased an adorable pug puppy. A few days later, JoJo developed a bad case of diarrhea. We followed the usually routine of fecal and deworming but the diarrhea continued. Thus, we sent out a sample for a Giardia test, which was positive. Giardia is a protozoa that exists in contaminated water and humans are susceptible to it as well.

On Tuesday, a client brought in a 3-week old pit bull puppy that she had rescued from under an abandoned house trailer. This puppy was one of 3, but the only reason she was able to catch him was due to the fact the puppy had gotten a cord tightly wrapped around his leg.  They removed the cord and brought him to me for exam. I examined the leg and ran a fecal on the puppy. (He was of course loaded with intestinal parasites). I treated the leg and dewormed the puppy, I believe he will be just fine and hopefully have a good, responsible home.

It is always a good idea to have your pets checked for Giardia as well as other intestinal parasites when they have unexplained GI issues.
